In The Seven Sisters, Candida Wilton, a recently divorced woman estranged from her three grown daughters, relocates from a picturesque Georgian house in Suffolk to a modest two-room flat in a less affluent area of London. This move, though not financially necessary, serves as a form of self-imposed exile. To fill her days, Candida enrolls in an adult education class on Virgil, which later transforms into a health club. There, she forms a group of women — widows, divorcees, and the unmarried—who bond over their shared experiences. Their journey culminates in a trip to Northern Africa and Italy, retracing the latter part of Aeneas's voyage, offering Candida new perspectives on her life and relationships.

How do you check the quality of secondhand books?
We carefully inspect every book before listing. Most of our books are in very good, readable condition, with no missing or damaged pages. For older, heavily foxed or tanned books, we still sell them at a lower price, as long as they remain complete and enjoyable to read. Condition and pricing are always reflected in the listing.
